The Faceless Historian

June 26, 2009

I found this via the LIS News site: The Faceless Historian. I love this stuff (being a history major at uni and all…). He pursues themes via a variety of seemingly-disconnected themes. this episode he links the philosophy of Epikouros (not just a foodie) to Franciscan friars who deposed a Pope to LSD, using the theme High on Life. As an aside, anyone with a passing interest in Greek philosophy should read this and this. It reminds me a little of the show Connections that I loved as a child where, for example it would be shown why WWI was caused by Dutch merchant vessels having control of the north Atlantic trade to the Americas in the seventeenth century.
