About Me

I’m John Nebauer, and I work as a liaison librarian at the Croydon Port Adelaide Regency Elizabeth campus of TAFESA. My program areas cover Women’s Studies, Commercial Cookery, Business Studies, English as a Second Language. I’m interested in how libraries are positioning themselves as education delivery is delivered increasingly online. I’m also fascinated by online social networks and how they develop communities centred around interests rather than geography.

Other things that I like/am interested in/follow/do:

* boardgames
* role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons
* writing: I’ve recently completed the (sadly now-defunct) ¬†Professional Writing program at the TAFESA City Arts campus
* cricket (the first series I remember watching was the 1974-75 Ashes series in Australia)
* rugby union (as my wife is a New Zealander and I an Australian this creates problems – mostly for me)
* cooking
* cheese (the best food in the world
* travel (we would travel all the time if money were no object)
* cats
* nice wine
* Doctor Who
* music (ABC Classic FM is my station of choice these days)
* reading (history, sf, fantasy, poetry and lots of other things)
* politics (of the left-wing kind)
* J.R.R. Tolkien (who deserves his own special mention)

Everything here is written with a Creative Commons non-commercial attribution licence unless it has one of those little (c) thingies at the bottom. But, even in the unlikely event that you actually use something of mine, pleeeze tell me because my head will fill (briefly) with delusions of adequacy. All of the opinions expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer or people that I’ve quoted. All posts have been mucked up edited by the cats.
